Knowing when to plant tomatos outside up here in the Frozen North is tricky beacause we get late freezes. Some say no tomatos outside until Mother's Day. I prefer to take my cues from nature.

My lilacs are blooming! That means it's OK to plant tomatoes outside. I wasn't going to do the community garden this year, but someone walked by and thanked

Did you plant an asparagus crown, or seeds? How long did it take to make sprouts?

I saw lilacs on the way to the vet yesterday, and almost stopped and smelled them on some stranger's property. :)

How lovely to have your own asparagus - I love it just lightly cooked with butter and lemon juice.
