At the Riverton Post Office Ennis struggles to find the right words. His pen hovers above the blank card for a long, long time. “Jack,” he finally begins, “I tried. No way I can make it before November. See you then.” And under his breath he whispers, “I’m sorry.” He surreptitiously presses the postcard to his lips before dropping it into the “Out Of Town” slot. As he steps out into the bright August sunlight a sudden shiver twists his body.
beautifully written...

I liked this..haven't read any fanfic for weeks. No, for months. This one grabbed me precisely because it's plausible and deals with matters AP and AL left to our imaginations.
You should post another link to it over at the DCForum, I found it completely by accident and am glad I did!. It's a good story, thanks for giving it too us.

Wow, I'm a little overwhelmed by the raw beauty and pain of this one shot - Jack's interior voice, all the things he wants to say to Ennis but can't just breaks my heart. Interesting and unique take on Randall, so often Randall comes off as being in love with Jack but you have a man who is also just trying to salve some of his own pain and loneliness.

...all right, Ennis, it’s all right. I’ll be waiting for you, darlin’, like I always have--- And then he is gone on the hot summer wind.

Oh man... and then he is gone. Really well done.

Your stuff was on my reading list for a long time - I am glad I used your post on DC today as a reminder and followed this link!

You filled the "gaps" in such a believable way! It broke my heart all over again...

It seems when one is in need of a perfect canon piece once in a while your journal is a great place to look for it! ;)

Thank you for writing and sharing!!!

Maybe I shouldn't read all your stories at once... leave maybe a month or two years between each of them...because I don't know how much more of this I can take. This is beautiful, bloody painful but beautiful. I love what Randall says. He's right. He might have said it. Who the hell knows?

This is a great big fat What if?

Damn those tears *sob*
