Marion i really like this story, and how you wrote it...circular, the way Brokeback itself is. It really got to me.

Now now, you can get in trouble talking about circles! I'm glad you liked it. It gave me the opportunity to write something positive - and then squash it flat.

Damn, M-this about killed me. I loved it, hated it, can't stand it, think it's wonderful. I feel this is how Ennis might be under the circumstances-fiercely desperate.
Nicely done.

Hello Jo and thank you.
Fiercely desperate, I like that. Love it hate it can't stand it - so near and yet so impossibly far.

For the hundredth time he reads Jack’s postcard, “7th okay, Jack”. Cold, distant words, none of Jack’s usual spirit.

I believe that Ennis did these kinds of things, although we rarely see them in fics. I believe that he looked over his postcards, re-read them, touched them, wondered how Jack looked while he was writing them.

Because he cherished and studied them, he would know that something was different, that Jack was changing, that the vitality he loved and admired was diminishing. I love how you show that in the few simple lines that I quoted above. It says so much about how much Ennis needed Jack to be who he always was, even though Ennis knew that he wasn't, and that he was part of the reason why.

Kumari, you have such wonderful perception. Thank you so much for your lovely comment As you say, Ennis must have treasured every tiny bit of contact he had with Jack and always have been sensitive to changes, even though neither of them read the other one perfectly.

Extremely well-written my friend ... your "insight" is excellent. You certainly have gotten into their minds and hearts. From what I've read there, I know that I'll have to "catch-up" on the rest of your stuff. Thanks ...

Hi Luke. Sorry for the late response. I've really appreciated your comments. And as you know, things occasionally work out as they should ;)
