I probably said it before, but I am SO glad you are writing this story. It's meticulous, intelligent, and engaging. I could feel Ennis's awkwardness, Jack's happiness, and the love these two halves of a single soul share. It's not maudlin or sentimental but deeply moving and sensitive. Your Jack and Ennis are wonderful. I can't think of enough good things to say about you and "The Outland." Thank you.

So much happens here! Jack had to say goodbye to that life, and face everyone he was leaving and what he had been and done there. And because he brought Ennis to meet Lureen and Randall, and told Randall straight out how important Ennis was, Ennis also can appreciate how much he always meant to Jack, despite his wife and his lover. It seems to me that is something Ennis needs to know down to his bones. I also think it's useful for Ennis to meet another acknowledged queer, and Jack is right about it being better for him to see Randall and know what he was like than to be imagining him into some ideal he can never live up to, or a real threat ( ... )

This was a long chapter and every word perfection. From the time at Lightning Flat to the unwillingness of Ennis traveling to Texas but did anyway, to the sad parting of Lureen and especially Rob. so sweet of him to give gifts to both his Dad and Ennis. Meeting Randell was unexpected, I don't think I could have, but you never know. Jack was right. it's better to face the devil and find out he is human after all.
Thank you for a wonderful chapter
Happy Easter.
Hugs

I always thought this to be the truth:

You don't need to brand me, you already done that a thousand years ago, day you first shook my hand, left your mark on me plain as day. Told you, them men were nothin to me, not even him. It was only ever you, always you.

Happy Easter/Spring. It's late at night but this is such a special story that I had to stay up and read, and it was well worth it. I loved every part of this chapter. I wasn't sure what was going to come out of that meeting with Randall, but it seems to have been alright, wow. This is a very unique story. I can picture everything so well as it is happening. Just love the way you tell a story. The dialog is very natural. I was relieved when Rob/Bobby kinda went back to normal after Jack & Ennis had been there awhile. I was worried at first. I feel good after reading this chapter.
