I particularly loved the workhorse Ennis in the beginning-everyone else strategizing and thinking; and he's just working away. Very funny narrative, too, with Jack telling Ennis he'll rope himself to Ennis if he tries to leave.....I feel like you've brought Jack safely to his own surface, where he feels secure enough around Ennis now to make such bold statements. Little did I know what awaited at the end of the chapter. WOW. Really splendid work.

God I hope so I just can't bare Ennis and Jack being unhappy and apart.
Thanks you for your wonderful writing.

i am quite torn... on one hand, I think Jack was right to call Ennis out on that - that last stubborn defence of this "I aint queer" business. it's hard not to think of being treated like a dirty little secret if ennis behaves like that. But on the other hand, ennis' fear is so great, the poisoned memory still so deep rooted in his mind... i can't bear to push him over the edge.
You captured so well of ennis' state of mind here... how much he really cares about Jack, and now he realises how jack has suffered and the magnitude of "this thing" between them, i think he does understand all of these. the problem is, he still hasn't accept who he is...
And Alma... i don't know what to say! what a special way to look at your ex!
