Ennis' reaction was an arrow to the heart

not enough, wouldn't dare - so many fears

gosh, just wonderful

so glad the ranch is working out

It's funny. Originally I planned for Ennis to just enjoy it but then it dawned on me as it did on Jack that there was no way he'd be able to cope. I love discovering these characters as I write. They surprise me quite often.

I would have though Ennis reaction would be just the way he did, crying because he thought he was not good enough for Jack and angry but turned on in spite of himself and attacking Jack ruff but getting gently at the same time. I'm Glad Jack destroyed does pictures its better they learn each others bodies and pleasure each other by knowing what his partner enjoys. The more they talk about thing the closer they will become to each others likes and dislikes.
Thank you for reviling yet another part of Ennis and Jack, and it was good.
Hugs

Thank you, Torry. They really are still taking baby steps through their relationship, and it's interesting to write about grown men doing such a thing, especially when their individual experiences are so different in many ways.

Glad that the ranch made a profit. Even though old man Twist wouldn't admit it out loud, Jack and Ennis knew better and their hard work paid off. Jack tried to do something sexy for Ennis and didn't realize Ennis would view it a totally different way. At least they resolved it and got something good out of it.

Sometimes I feel sorry for old man Twist. He's caught between wanting the ranch to succeed and not wanting someone else to be the reason, especially his son.

"Never looked, didn't want to."

Oh my. Of course not. And the Ain't I good enough? Don't I do it right?" got me teary, as did the image of Jack cradled in Ennis's lap. Such beautiful writing.

So satisfying to watch them work together on the ranch and in Billings - they really do fill in each other's open spaces. You've captured the essence of the ss brilliantly while moving forward and making this story your own. Thank you!

"they really do fill in each other's open spaces" - that's lovely, Marie. I've always felt that Annie Proulx's originals were the perfect match, if only ----

Thank you so much for commenting.

Damn, I love this version of Jack and Ennis. Take away the physical attractiveness of the actors and Jack and Ennis can still break your heart. It's a good day when The Outland updates. Keep 'em coming!

Yes, ma'am ;) I find the originals to be quite attractive in their own fashion --- although I lust after those film boys too.
