today I came across the best advice I've heard for a while.

"Find someone with whom you have a rapport, and proceed."

I was reading this local writing newsletter, and the editor had done a piece in memory of the poet Liam Rector (he had been in poor health and, sadly, recently took his own life). Apparently, he used to tell his students this in his classes -- "Find someone with whom you have a rapport, and proceed" -- about the writing process. But really, I think it's good advice for life in general. I also learned that he founded the writing seminars at my alma mater. small world. His last book
the executive director of the fallen world looks good. I love the title.
