sometimes strange things happen when answering the phone.

today at work:
"______________" I answer and give the standard greeting.
no response, but I do hear music -- background music, not the elevator-music-you're-on-hold stuff.

"Hello?"

still nobody there, but definitely some sweeping classical tune being played.
