this article is a few weeks old

I just remembered part of my dream last night (not including the part where borat called me and I was travelling with a bunch of random people on a bus through the fertile hills of virgina) involved everyone having a visible status message hovering above their heads.
it was kind of like telepathy, but not really.oy

I can relate with the discomfort felt in reference to the boradcast features -- they really seem far too weird -- but not to the need to be popular or create a profile that draws in people or encorages dates ( ... )

I like what you say.

and it does translate for me between reality and cyberspace -- where people I don't have regular contact with, if I learn that they changed jobs or edit their profile to include that they like the rolling stones one day or watching some new favorite tv show, doesn't matter a lick to me in terms of judgement or something.

I'm kind of an information whore who just likes to keep tabs on people, just to know they're still out there kicking around.

I recently visited a dive bar in my old home town, now that was the weirdest of high school reuinions...
'Round here, even in this megalopolis, the home towns suck people back in. They leave, but always come back.
