Day 30 - Whatever tickles your fancy

Kurt Hummel! Oh man, this boy manages to be both a BAMF and a HBIC, and look fabulous doing it. He can watch in ten-inch heels and wear a powdered wig. He pulls off outfits I'd normally abhor, and says things like, "Someday, you will all work for me." To his bullies. (Even better, this is a line that was ad-libbed by his actor, Chris Colfer.) He's quite like Rachel in a few ways, actually, and if they ever got over their petty differences and worked together I imagine they would be unstoppable. He's unapologetically himself, always, even when it gets him hurt. And his voice! His range is wider than mine in both directions by a mile. He has that gorgeous pure tone that I love in Lea Michele's ballads, but he can belt with the best of them. (Just listen to Rose's Turn!)

Jesse St. James! JUST LOOK AT THIS GQMF. He's gorgeous, talented, intelligent, dramatic, confident, charming, and yes, a bit of a douche, but in the kind of way that turns me on. (Oh god, I'm sick, I know.) IRL I would probably hate this guy, and secretly fantasize about him at the same time. That's the kind of boy he is. He knows he's a star, just like Rachel does, and it's laughable - it's inconceivable - to suggest that he isn't the next big thing. Because excuse me but have you heard him sing? Have you seen his hair? "I remember when I used to get nervous," he tells Rachel airily. He made me like a Lionel Richie song! Lionel. Richie. Have some bonus gifs to fully appreciate his awesome! (Not mine, can't remember where I got them, sorry!)

seduction!Jesse

showface!Jesse ("I want a smile so optimistic if could cure cancer!" roars Miss Corcoran, and boy does Jesse deliver.)

I think he's a fascinating character, because as much as I raged and wept and lamented that Awful Moment (I'm referring to this, but don't click unless you want to be spoiled for Glee) it made sense. I know that having this opinions makes me a serious minority in both the Jesse and St. Berry fanbases, but realistically, Jesse is a more ruthless version of Rachel. Where Rachel never means to hurt anybody - she just doesn't consider the consequences of her actions - Jesse will step on your toes if you're in his way. In his mind, he wasn't going to win Nationals with New Directions. It's his senior year. Not winning Nationals means no scholarships, and probably no UCLA (I'm speculating with that bit). He's the star, he's always been the star, and he won't give that up. He needs to get back into Vocal Adrenaline's good graces. You could see it hurt him and he felt guilty, but he did it. He saw it as a necessary sacrifice. I think he absolutely did and does care about Rachel, but he won't give up his dreams for her.

That's not the say that I like what he did or that it's okay. But I think it actually sort of made sense for him. Although I don't think the writers did it because of that - they just needed a convenient exit for him. Bastards.

I will never not love the face he's making in the picture second from the left on the bottom row. It's fantastic.
