First child-free vacation, completed! We so needed some time for ourselves, and nothing says vacation like walking most of the length of Manhattan in a day.

We took the Bolt bus down on Thursday, met up A-Dot for dinner at a really nice bar, and went to see a cheap UCB improv show that was done by some of the Daily Show staff writers. We stayed ( Read more... )

Good for you! saucha April 28 2014, 10:39:47 UTC
Congratulations on a child-free trip for two. I'm envious! MJ's 7, and the only place I've ever been without her is the hospital ... generally for surgery. I've seen the outside of the library hotel before and have been intrigued, but the price-tag was enough to dissuade me from planning to stay there. I'm glad you had the chance -- and that it was good (I suppose worth the investment, then?). I hope you get the chance to enjoy another child-free trip again soon. :-)

Oh my goodness, I hope you and R. get a child free vacation some time soon (as long as you want one, I should say). It was really, really nice. I love the little munchkin and all, but I think we all needed a reset. He seemed to be pretty happy about his own vacation to the grandparents'. Library Hotel- you know, I wouldn't pay that much money to stay there again. It was a nice novelty, and it's definitely more luxurious than our usual class of hotels, but I am not convinced any hotel is worth that much money unless they are also teleporting you to and from your destination for free. We were very lucky to have been given a generous gift from family to use as we wished, which is the only way we could justify splurging on such a fancy hotel.

I will have to check on the train thing. We were going to go by train but when we looked the tickets would have cost like $400. I am hoping that maybe Greyhound is a better bus to take? Because it still goes in and out of Penn Station? I dunno. But we are going back for a night or two in July (and you should come, too! We can go to that weird museum!)

It was really fantastic. I think West needed a break from us, too.

Aw, that sounds like such a nice vacation! Especially the quiet bar, because I am old.

Seriously, the quiet bar made me SO HAPPY. Drinkin' Lindemanns Framboise and sitting in peace & quiet... sigh. That is my new happy place. Come with us in July and we'll take you to the quiet bar!
