Thank YOU for being so incredibly awesome and supportive and helpful and talented and, you know, for actually TAKING THE TIME to draw so many amazing things out of the kindness of your heart! <3 <3 <3
This was BEAUTIFUL. Fantastic. So incredibly good, every scene...
When Katara looked to Zuko to be sure that Jet was okay, my heart stuttered a little.
When Katara brought Azula back just because she knew what it would mean to Zuko and she had Jet's example to live up to, it happened again.
No, that wasn't just because I'm basically a Zutaran who doesn't really do Jetko beyond this AWESOME fic. It was because those moments were... dammit, I'm trying to think of the right words, but all I can come up with is, Affirmation. The first one, an affirmation of Zuko's acceptance by the GAang as being on the side of Good. The second, an affirmation of character growth... not just on Zuko and Jet's part, but even Katara's. I really don't think canon Katara would have done that; maybe not even for Aang's sake.
I can't help wishing for an epilogue to this epilogue; a glimpse of the future, just a scene from the five-year-reunion or something. Please, pretty please consider it?
I was a little worried about getting too far off the course of the rest of the story, but I really wanted to spend at least a little time on Zuko and Jet's interactions with the "gaang," Katara included. In particular, it seemed to me that Zuko's experiences in Ba Sing Se brought him to a different place than he was in canon at the end of S3, and it was interesting for me to explore a little of how things would have played out in this version of the story.
So basically, thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
As for the future -- I have to go back and revise it a little, but this story was always set in the same continuity as "Something To Hold Onto" on my head, and I'll probably end up changing its [universe] tag to this one. ;)
Ahhhh ♥ this was amazing and I loved it! Especially how you included Mai and Ty Lee, and Katara getting to fight Azula at the prison and that false lightning thing, my first thought was OH GOD, JET, YOU IDIOT. :'D
Yeah, you know, funnily enough it didn't occur to me that people would assume Jet was the one who'd been hit by the redirected lightning -- I felt like kind of a jerk later, when I was reading this comments. Like, "WHOOPS sorry guys! I AM NOT ACTUALLY THAT MUCH OF AN ASS I SWEAR!" ;3
Man, I am super-glad that you enjoyed my OCs that way! I always feel very self-conscious about how many of them there are in this story, so I'm flattered you found those two to be interesting!
Also: "liveblog" fic comments are pretty awesome. <3
Hahahaha death would have been so much more merciful.
Oh yay oh yay. Thank you. Zuko got to ride a dragon! Jet is so *totally* the Fire Lady - "I think we might have to come up with a shorter title," INDEED. I love Zuko's description of how his bending feels under the influence of the comet, and Mai getting drunk with Jet at the end.
Also, the line "In private respites of self-indulgence, when he was too exhausted to pretend at accepting inevitable misery, Zuko had imagined detailed scenarios for how this moment would play out." So true. Zuko tackling Jet, best reunion ever.
HOORAY! I'm so glad you ended up enjoying it! I couldn't help but fill it with "OMG THIS WOULD BE AWESOME" bits and pieces, ie dragon riding and drunkenness in the library, so I'm glad that that seems to have worked out for you <3 <3 <3
