The healing powers of kitty-cat love

((OOC: Continued from here))The walk back to campus was peaceful and quiet. In Katelyn's arms was the small kitten that she and Liz had picked out together, a kitten with black fur and white socks that purred contently as she enjoyed the attention she now received. For the moment there was no pressure or thoughts about their upcoming date, the ( Read more... )

Liz slipped into the room, but found the girl they had come for asleep - or at least pretending to be asleep. Vanya's eyes were closed and only the regular beep and the sound of having difficulty breathing told the couple that the older Seer had not yet died.

Liz didn't know what to say and a part of her was afraid that if they spoke, they'd cause a seizure. Still, they had to say something, unless they wanted to leave the cat anonymously behind. Before either of the two girls could say anything, though, Vanya's eyes fluttered open and an icy cold glare was directed at the two intruders.

Kate did not speak for fear that her words would upset the invalid, her emotions damaging her fragile health even further. But when she saw Liz had similar thoughts as well, Kate knew that she had to say something.

That icy look pierced through the air like daggers, and Kate instinctively took a step forward as if to shield Liz from them. She still stood at her side, only half a step in front of Liz, glancing over at her lover for strength before turning back to face Vanya herself.

"Don't worry...we can't stay too long," Kate offered at first, thinking that would be the main thing Vanya wanted to know - when the couple would be leaving. "But...we just wanted to see, how you were doing?" A soft 'mew' then came from the bundle of fur snuggled close to Kate's chest. "And," she hesitantly added, "We wanted to show you something, too..."

There was no reply. No bitchy remarks, no grunted permission; just silence. Silence and the steady glare that she kept directed at them. A glare that appeared to be cold enough it could freeze up rocks and maybe even break them. She didn't even respond to the soft mew that came from Kate's chest.

Liz shuffled closer against Kate. Even though she knew they were doing the right thing, she was gripped with an irrational fear and all she could do was to stay close near her friend and leave it all up to her. She felt a bit guilty about it, but there was nothing she could do about it.

Katelyn's protective nature only shone through more and more as the girl she loved huddled closer to her for safety, and the girl who loathed her tried to use her eyes as weapons against her. The short girl stood tall, not allowing herself to become shaken by that cold, icy stare.

She looked down at the bundle of fur in her arms. The kitten turned to face her, and then after a moment of silent understanding it mewed in answer of Kate's silent request. Four padded feet landed upon the floor and then scampered towards the bed. Kate's arm then linked with that of her date as the kitten she once held sprang onto the bed with Vanya.

"Me and Liz...we got you a kitty," she finally said, seeing that Vanya wasn't going to acknowledge them with a response. "We thought it might make you feel better?"
