Our trip--Egypt

Wow. Sounds like you guys had a phenomenal time! Quite a big trip for Bella, wasn't it? Did she seem to understand much of what she saw, or was it just, "Oh, look. Another dead guy." I know my kids didn't really begin to appreciate the thrill of history until very recently (they're 15, 13 and 12), and while I would be standing there thinking "This is where so-and-so stood!" they'd be, "Can we go now?" I hope she remembers the experience as she gets older.

Thanks for sharing, luv!

It was a huge trip for Bella, we were really impressed with how well she handled it. She was interested in stuff, but we you have to know how to bring it down to a 5 year old level--we've taken her to museums in NYC and they can be very overwhelming. So I've learned to break it down for her, like, "let's find all the cats in this hall!" or "look, these belonged to children, do you have something like that?" It helps that she does like knowledge and is a bit of a show-off. She and I would look at the displays, I'd explain in simple terms whatever it was, and she'd drag Aaron over so she could "teach" him. She really enjoyed looking at stuff and imagining a backstory for it. And of course, pretty much everything King Tut owned was gold, so that was inherently fun to look at. :)
