I team up with Oshitari, Fuji, Mukahi and Akutagawa for doubles next week. Anyone want to get together and strategize? Maybe we can nab some other pairs--ones we aren't playing next week--for some practice so we can get used to each other's styles.

...why would I bother wasting my time with you, when I have a set doubles parter that could beat your pants off?

Because if you don't do well in the rankings you may not make the team, much less with your "set" partner. Or haven't you counted the number of possible regulars yet?

But if you don't think you can keep up with me, suit yourself.

None of these matches are about winning; no scores will be kept, these won't be on record, for anything other than how certain combinations worked out.
Do you not understand? And I don't freaking care if I'm a regular or not. I play tennis for fun.

I don't know anyone who plays tennis because it's a chore. I always have fun; and I always play to win. *G* Even if sometimes I don't. I'd like to know what to expect from you when we're on the court together, but suit yourself.

*shrug* It'll be too bad when Oshitari makes regulars with a different partner....

That other bit was OOC instructions for the players. As far as I know, these matches matter just as much in regulars selection as the singles matches did.

I would be more than happy to play a match with you, Kippei. I know that some people do not think this is important but any pairing helps make you a better player...

I'm excited about all my pairings. I have some great matches lined up. How are yours shaping up?

Saturday works for me. Maybe Friday, but Inui's going to teach me how to be Robin Hood. Anyway, a practice match will give us a chance to learn not to trip over each other's feet.
