My cat died today... :( He was 17 years old, which is definately a long life in cat years, but that doesn't make it hurt any less. As weird as it sounds, it's like losing a younger sibling. My younger brother is 18, and so we've had my cat almost as long. It was sad - I actually watched him go. I never want to witness anything like that again,

Don't feel selfish. It's not an easy decision. It's not like we can ask our pets how they feel or what they'd want. No matter what decision you would have made you would have felt guilty about it.

And things have just slowly been getting worse - and since Thursday he hasn't even been able to walk anymore, so we definately knew the time was coming. It was just a painful thing to watch. But my mom talked to the vet today and the vet assured us that Chandler didn't feel any pain -- and we kind of thought he was already in like, a kitty coma for a few minutes becuase he wasn't responding to his name, and just had a blank look. So that makes me feel better about the whole situation... and this way we know he lived as long as physically possible.
