In related news: yesterday a student was arrested at RIT (where I happen to have a son) for having 2 assault rifles in his room (in the same housing my son occupies when on campus.

Of course in the fine print we learn that he has been a long-time resident (it's mostly non-traditional students who are hard to place in regular dorms) who is very friendly with other students and staff...the manager referred to him as "part of the family". Turns out he's a hobbyist who rebuilds the things. He's from New Jersey, where it's legal, and wasn't aware that it's ilegal in NY.

Gosh...I feel safe now!
