Well I went to the dentist yesterday. They did X-Rays and looked at my mouth. But the dentist did not do anything yet. I need to take Antibiotics for a week before I can have the two Root Canals. The problem with this is I took my prescription to Walgreens Pharmacy and they said it would be like 30 minutes to fill. I went home, cause I only live 5 ( Read more... )

wow, good lord.

Sadly the only option I know of is to do about $1000 worth of work per year.
I had a single root canal and crown not too long ago and ended up paying a stupid amount out of pocket. It's really kind of rediculous.. they burned through almost all my insurance money just fixing that one tooth that I said I had a toothache. They haven't even done a normal exam to check the rest of my mouth... and I CANT really get one because I'm out of benefits after that ONE tooth >.> So.. while I know it's my own fault for not being to the dentist in awhile, I'm going to have a checkup in 2010, because that's when insurance will be refilled.

Have your dentist check into a finance option through "Care Credit". That was how I was able to get dental work done that was above and beyond what I had in my account at the time. It's basically a credit card, with 1-2 years of deferred interest if you can pay it off before the deadline, and the credit card is only good for medical, dental, or vision services. I paid mine iff within a year and owed no interest.

I don't know if you could get the whole thing done through it, but it is at least an option.

... I'm speechless. People should be made to pay for their mistakes.

Paying 10k out of pocket for an issue which occurred from fixing a completely different issue is unfair.

I hope everything turns out well, especially during these trying times.

Wow... 10K for dentist work. That's insane. I guess the 1K per year is your only option so far. Good luck!!!
