Getting worse at keeping up on LJ, obviously. Trying to get back to at least reading my Friends page once a week.

Most of Canada, myself included, heartily agrees that the American election results were appalling. One point that's being made is the low voter turnout on both sides. There are also a fair number of "if only it had been Bernie" comments. With which I agree. The truth is that, however attractive it is to think of the US electing their first woman president, these were two candidates who did not win the hearts of the people.

(Well, Trump probably should be behind bars. What a nasty piece of work.)

Congratulations on the velvet. I'm not a Who fan; but I totally understand the thrill of getting the costume as authentic as possible.

It would take a LOT to get this country to the place where the very word "socialist" isn't such a panic button that it can't really be discussed in a reasonable manner. Sanders' candidacy made more strides toward that than I would have thought possible, but it still would have been Kryptonite in the general election.

The velvet is doubly thrilling because the ensemble I made him for our wedding in 1999 was "inspired" by this particular costume because that had to be good enough. Access to Just The Right Thing has improved SO much, and of course not having a deadline doesn't hurt either. :-)

Bonus: The wardrobe curator for the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff brought several screen-worn items to CT a few years back, and I got to not only see but touch the coat in question. So just taking this stuff out of the package when it arrived was amazing.

If you've seen the opening number from the Grammys, then you didn't miss too much not seeing it in Chicago -- it wasn't one of the places where they made any noticeable changes. (which doesn't help, I know, but I'm trying to make it sting less.) Wasn't it a brilliant show, though? I was thrown a little at first by Miguel's interpretation of Alexander, since it's so different from LMM's, but I thought it really worked. What did you think of Angelica?

Yeah, I pretty much knew what it looked like, though Jack didn't. And I'm confused that "Aaron Burr, Sir" wasn't listed in the playbill. Surely that's a misprint and it hasn't been cut? I wanted to see that.

Miguel was better as older Alexander, I thought -- the manic felt a little forced to me early on. But he was plenty charming and earnest to make up for it. I'm highly entertained that he has the hashtag #hamilvantes on his Twitter bio. :-D

LOVED Angelica. She was probably my favorite, with Washington close behind. Eliza's bigger voice took a little getting used to, but I loved her. Lafayette needs a little more time to make the faster rap sections intelligible in the accent, but he's a hoot. :-D

Easily my favorite unexpected moment was the contrast between the two instances of "and Peggy." She was just SO annoyed on the first one, like "Why did I let my sisters drag me down here?" and then totally caught up in the excitement on the second one. :-D

If you want yet another social media network to update, I find Imzy a lot easier to participate on than LJ nowadays. But it has a lot of the same things that made this place great.

I'm around 25K, which is all but unheard of for me. It was supposed to be another short one like the other three I've done this year, and, well, NOPE.

I do feel ridiculously vindicated by the stats I've managed to rack up on a 1400-word piece with no ship. (Yes, I know there are people who ship it, but I choose to completely ignore that fact because ALL THE NOPE.) Though really I chalk it up to Dave Filoni being an evil, evil man who delights in stomping on our hearts. I just rode that wave. ;->
