Explaining the electoral college to someone not used to it can be a bit bothersome. If Obama ends up losing, I fully expand another round of screaming that we need to ditch the Electoral College.
I saw the first two debates but missed the foreign policy one. The GOP deserves a better candidate; or at least, one who's actually a candidate they know where they stand with. As a non-American, I hope Obama wins. Romney's plans are vague in the extreme.
It's all fascinating viewing. It's probably the only democratic election anywhere that truly has a go a dealing with big, serious issues. No other elections even attempt to discuss Syria, Iran, etc. - even if the candidates would rather talk about the economy...
The extreme lack of detail on which tax deductions he'd remove. And I don't buy the "I'll need to negotiate with Congress" excuse; he'll still need a plan to take to Congress, and if "the maths add up" as he claims then this suggests he has consided one or more specific plans - but refused to make the details public.
You may not buy it, but it is very true-- the returning House matters a great deal as to which aspects of the tax code he can realistically attack-- there are things that can and will completely disappear from the table, to be written off as unrealistic with a change of a mere handful of votes, and other things which can be brought to the table with the right returnees in the right committees to make things happen

Mind, it's less likely, but remains within the bounds of possibility.
