Today is Halloween. I can recall what it was like back at that Muggle orphanage. All this candy, dressing up in our pathetic sheets as ghosts or witches or mummy's or what have you. Halloween was the only holiday where I ever felt alive, powerful, awakened to some "higher sense" within me. All those children would have fun banging on doors, begging ( Read more... )

You cannot imagine what it was like. Day after day enduring their selfishness and bigotry. They think so highly of themselves, yet compared to us they are but ants. They looked down on me because I was different. They love "conformity" these Muggles. Always sticking their nose in your business, demanding to know who you are and why you can't fit in. As if I would want to fit in to their world. Always hustle and bustle and for what purpose?
It's not like here. Not at all. This place, this world of magic is like a light in the darkness compared to where I came from. I shudder just at the thought of ever returning to that dismal place...

Oh but see there is one very important difference here and that is that we have been gifted with power, power that can change both our world and the Muggles' if we so allow it. Muggles only think they have power, yet the mark they make on day-to-day affairs is too minuscule to even be mentioned. We have a gift. We can change things for the better. Magic is meant for so much more than changing rats into teacups or other such nonsense. Magic can bring about a revolution where the only difference is between those willing to fight and those who have only enough strength to step aside. Things can change. But we need to be willing to embrace that change and take the first step into a new way of thinking. Kindness can take you so far, but if it does not have power behind it, it will be tossed aside and stepped on by others of a meaner disposition ( ... )
