So, now that we think it's pretty much over -- knock on wood -- I wanted to share with the world one dog's journey of healing a random ear wound. Yeah, yeah. It's just THAT exciting.
when sophie had to get a few stitches in her hind leg because of a deep gash, she got the conehead and i understand the leg bruising, because i swear she just used it like a bulldozer through the house.
my dog also is a head shaker -- and recently did it with a rope bone, causing it to fly out of her mouth, across a room and knock a half-full mug of coffee off a table, spilling it and breaking the mug. dogs must have amazing neck muscles.
that is awesome! Obie once had a weird cyst or something that grew really really fast in his ear, and it was full o' blood. I think it was right on the vein. When the vet removed it, he had to remove some excess skin to make sure he got it all just in case it was not benign. He apparently removed so much that the skin just fell off on the other side, so Obie had a hole in his ear - perfectly round, just the size of a pencil eraser. It was like he'd had an ear piercing. The vet was mortified and kept saying he'd try to fix it, but it didn't bother Obie, was perfectly healed, and I told the vet that Obie is now set for his pirate costume accessory for Halloween. Woo

I'm not counting a victory until you can keep all mammals in your household simultaneously healthy for one consecutive month :D.
