Oh noes! Does she like kitty treats? When I shake the bag for the treats mine will come out of the woodwork, and it's occasionally gotten mine to come in when they get out (also indoor-only kitties).
Baiting a live trap to catch her will also probably work, hopefully.
The vet is right, she's unlikely to stray too far. Put some food and water out on the back porch in case it tempts her back.
Thanks, Ari! She doesn't get treats, per se, but we do give her canned food on the weekend which is what usually gets her to come out when she's hiding. We carried her special food bowl around the house and the back yard all morning!
Fingers crossed for the trap, and that she'll get hungry enough to come out for food. It makes me feel terrible to think of her out there all alone and scared!
Is there a favorite treat or food she always comes running for?
I'm afraid I don't have much other advice - I'm *extremely* paranoid about this kind of thing happening so both of our indoor-only cats are chipped & collared. :/
I lost my kitty twice in one week this past fall. We papered the neighborhood with lost kitty posters and then went to the area where he was reported seen and just called him until he heard our voices and came out. But it was nerve wracking. Good luck! I know you'll find her.
My only experience with cats is that they almost always come home. Put out wet food, or canned chicken (they love that) and just keep up hope. They usually turn back up, dirty and satisfied looking, then eat and sleep for two days. :(
She is black, right? Or calico? I can't remember at the moment.
Ok. I texted the pic to my friend at the school down the street from you guys. Just in case! I hope Brad spots her again soon! Maybe she saw something hunt-able and is exploring her wild side. I hope she's home soon! ♥
Oh no, poor kitty! I hope she comes home soon...probably just as soon as she realises she's hungry and the Big Wide World is not all it's cracked up to be...

Mine also get wet food, and the sound of the can opening is also pretty persuasive. Maybe?

We've always meant to have her chipped, but the last time we took her in the vet refused to even try, because she gets so violent on the vet techs.
I'm not giving up hope, but I do feel so, so sad.
