Willow was sitting on her bed with Alex beside her. She watched as Alex waved his hands and feet in the air.

"If you think watching those is exciting, just wait until we get you into books," Willow told him.

"Has he started eating them again?" Peter asked, coming into the room and over to the bed to them.

"Not yet," Willow said, smiling up at him. "But, and I don't want to make with the jinxing, but it's possible that he's realizing that these things waving in the air are attached to him."

Peter leaned down to kiss her hello. "I'm not sure. He was gnawing on his fist the other night. He seemed to think it tasty."

Willow kissed him back. "It's a whole stage of development! Sure he's all cute and squirmy and likes putting things in his mouth but one day he realizes that he has hands and feet! And he can do things with them! You know you never realize just how much work is involved in growing up until you watch someone doing it from scratch."
