Obama spoke at a DNC fundraiser in Beverly Hills the other day.  Queer protesters were outside.  Note that Obama has been totally silent (in public, at least) on the Prop 8 decision, as he has been on DADT, DOMA, the HIV travel ban -- all of it.  Now check this out, from Politico, via Dan Savage:

yeah, he was never gonna be a fierce advocate. I think if we keep riding his ass (which we have to do) he'll turn out to be an OK advocate, but I don't think we're going to see anything mind-boggling until after 2012. And even then, I'm going to "settle" (read: be pissed but still vote for him b/c he's better than an ass-publican) with him only being slightly non-biased.

I think the turning of the tide is coming, tho. I really do. I see it in the upcoming generation and I see it in the fact that my town's Pride celebration is growing every year!

Obama is going to do for gays what Roosevelt did for Jews -- very little, and then grudgingly. The Obama::Roosevelt analogy works in a number of different dimensions, and this is the least palatable of them.

I was so hopeful when he was starting to get rid of DADT.
It's like when Clinton said, "I didn't realize how much they hate y'all"
