My bandmate Nick and I had a massive fight last night. About mascara and whether old men should be allowed to wear it. I was firmly in favor of mascara-wearing for the geriatrics. This would bring up the question, what is old? 45? 55? 65? 75? 85? Robert Smith is 47 and he still wears his eyeliner and lipstick. and in my opinion, still looks as fucking good as ever. Hell, I'm getting up there in age, I'm nearly 38, so I'm wondering what the cut-off mark is. Am I too old to wear eyeliner? Is there such a thing? Is it gender-biased, and if so, doesn't that make those in opposition just ignorant?

I don't know, it's late, I'm high and still wiping away the eyeliner smudges under my eyes, so who am I to debate.

haha well when i say old, i tend to mean the ones rocking away in old folks' homes. then again it would depend on what age you went to one, but i guess i meant about seventies or eighties. robert smith does indeed still look fantastic in eyeliner, as for women? i think they always look good, even the really old ones, it's just when they cake it on really badly then it's not good. although i wonder whether it's more due to failing eyesight than bad taste.

in conclusion (i feel like i'm back at high school) nah, women can always wear makeup, but men up to a point don't look good in it anymore. then again who am i to talk i'll probably wear makeup on my deathbed.

thank you. england is pretty fantastic but i preferred it when we weren't doing shows back to back. it's super tiring and we're lucky if we can snatch an hour's break.
