Prepping for uncertainty

A week from today, I will be prepping for my trip to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. I've been to neither place, nor do I know much of what I will do, especially at the Grand Canyon. I do have a car rental reservation set. I plan on making a few lodging reservations this week ( Read more... )

What I remember from the Grand Canyon:
- the North Rim has all the exciting landscapes and crazy hiking trails. Beautiful stuff and very quiet cabins.
- the South Rim is full of the 'tourist' things including the guided donkey tours.
As a 10 year old I thought the North Rim was cooler because you could do everything you wanted without an annoying tour guide telling you where to look.

Try to find the eye of the needle.

That glass bridge thing looks awesome - but I think it was on the west edge and it cost a lot of money.

I hope you have a damn fine time.

We've been to both. The Grand Canyon was in 1996 so some things have changed since then, no doubt. We really liked the Sunset Tour on the south rim, also the Watchtower was cool.
Las Vegas was in 2001 and I know there are changes since then too. We loved going to magic performances, including Lance Burton. I don't know who is there these days. There were cool free things to do, like see the water show at the Bellagio, the pirates at Treasure Island, Birdman of Las Vegas at Tropicana, cool fish and birds at another hotel...
Fodar's Guides are great for info. We use them often when planning.

TRUE STORY.

the hero was actually very appealing to me, because he wasn't so squeaky-clean. and the love interest wasn't totally useless! and the movie didn't take itself too seriously -there were some great one-liners in there :)
