Quick update

I'm not good about remembering to post. I've been keeping quite busy so I haven't gotten to talk to very many folks or haven't always mentioned about what was going on. I last posted in September so I'll be brief.

My initial attempt at wine making went so-so. Thanks to a gift from careswenand mmerriamlast year inspired by my attempt to make an SCA approved mead I've think I've found a good hobby for me. It involves a lot of patience and while it takes a long time it doesn't require too much time all at once. I have to learn how to talk about wine, but we are letting the other bottles age to see if it improves the taste.

My father was diagnosed with renal cancer. Scans found that the initial mass on his kidney did spread to a lymph node in his upper chest. Surgery removed his kidney and the mass. His other kidney kicked in and so that worked out. He is undergoing chemo at home to see if they can kill off the rest of it. He has about 4 more weeks of treatment before they scan him again to see how he is responding. He does really well at trying to keep his spirits up. Things have gone pretty good so far so we're just hoping that the scan will show a shrinking of the mass. time will tell.

I am making a shift in my working life. I accepted an internship to work with Choices Psychotherapy in January. I'm trying to work with my current boss to see if they would consider keeping me on as part time. I'm very familiar with the company policies and while there is a very good chance they will go for it, because of the current economy they might need to let me go and I could see them do that as well.

I am currently going through physical therapy for my jaw. I have early symptoms of a TMJ problem which I had been handling well until sometime after I found out about my dad's cancer. My TMJ is mainly stress induced causing me to grind and clench my teeth in the middle of the night. If I cold figure out how to stop it I would. Looking at possible mouth splints to wear at night.

I am good and I hope to run into more of you around and after the holidays.  Take care.
