Five times five things

Jan 18, 2009 23:46

As an extra new years resolution this year, I would like to do the five of the following, none of which I did five of last year:

5 open water swims (independent of triathlon)
1. London Fields Lido, 18/01/09

5 films at the cinema
1. Australia, 18/01/09

5 gigs

5 other cultural experiences (theatre, ballet, comedy, opera, galleries all count)

5 ( Read more... )

5 x 5, resolutions

Which races? And are you on fetcheveryone.com? I've become recently addicted :)

So far I'm signed up for:

Merrell Mudman Duathlon
New Forest Triathlon
London 10k
London Olympic Triathlon

So only one actual run, so far (although I'm looking for a few more runs to do, just haven't signed up yet - Runners World had their top 50 runs in the current issue, many of them looked good).

I have signed up for fetcheveryone.com, but haven't used it a lot - I tend to keep an eye on Tritalk and the Runners World events search (and check the races in Runners World each month too)

Royal Parks again this year? And there also Hellrunner. So far I am signed up for Cumbrian Commotion (final leg of the Helly Hansen Adventure Challenge series, run/bike/kayak) and the Edinburgh Marathon.

Also, is it work subscribing to Triathlete's World do you think? I already read Runner's World.

I subscribe to 220 Triathlon. I've only seen one issue of Triathlete's World, but you can get three trial issues for £1 so it might be worth taking a look.

All of them become a bit samey after a while, but I'm still finding 220 worth reading at the moment.

Yeah, I have the token for that from Runner's World but it expires on the 22nd. I think the 3-for-£1 deal requires subscribing for a year tho'.

Wouldn't be much of a trial if that were the case. I think you sign up to pay for it by direct debit every three months, and can cancel at any time - I'm pretty sure that was the case with my Runners World subscription.

I've been meaning to try the London Fields Lido for ages. I love swimming but always end up at the pool in my local gym (which is always full of slow swimmers in the fast lanes.) Someone told me the Lido is empty this year because it's so cold... can you attest to that? :-)

It's lovely and warm in the water, but cold out of it. I got a bit cold over an hour, because we were having lessons and we had to wait to hear the instructions.

But I'd think London Fields should be one of the more popular because at least the water is heated! On Sunday it looked like there might be plenty of room though.

Give it a go, I think you should be able to find the lane for you!
