Lucifer was far too preoccupied with Sam to have been aware of his little brother sneaking into his dreams. Every night while Sam slept, he stayed awake, running his fingers down Sam's bare shoulder, his arm, back up and into his hair.

There was nothing about Sam that didn't hold some sort of fascination for him.

He had no idea that Gabriel was getting closer. That every night he promised Sam he was coming for him. Yes, he'd sworn not to go against Lucifer directly, but this was different. This was about saving his mate, not averting the Apocalypse.

As Sam stirred to waking, he leaned to kiss him. His vessel. His mate.

Sam kissed him back, a draw he hadn't been able to resist since he'd given in to Lucifer. He missed Gabriel terribly, but sometimes he could almost forget when Lucifer was kissing him. It felt like genuine affection from the archangel, and he'd never expected that.

"What time is it?" he asked, slowly sitting up and running a hand through his hair. He could still hear Gabriel's voice in his head. Feel the desire and desperation that had managed to translate across their bond.

Lucifer hummed into the kiss, fingers in Sam's hair. It was more than affection. It was love. The bond intended to manipulate him and hurt Gabriel had caught him just as easily. He was Sam's as much as Sam was his. Bound to him. "It's still early. Would you like some breakfast?"

He had to remember that mortals ate regularly. So Lucifer took care of Sam. Gave him everything he needed.

Sam's chest filled with warmth at the kiss, and he couldn't help his soft smile when Lucifer pulled back. It felt like a betrayal at the same time that it just felt right. He wanted Gabriel back, but he wasn't sure he could leave Lucifer.

"Breakfast sounds nice," he said, slipping out of the bed to stand. He stretched a bit, groaning softly at the pull on his muscles.
