Character Information
Name: Aoko Nakamori
Fandom: Magic Kaito
Background: Despite Aoko’s prominence in the Magic Kaitou manga, not a great deal is known about her background. We know that Aoko’s mother is not in the picture (for reasons unexplained), leaving her alone with her father, a policeman with the ardent lifelong goal to capture the mysterious thief Kaitou Kid. From there we can likely conclude that Aoko spent a great deal of time growing up either alone or at friends’ houses, as her father’s near-obsession and the nighttime nature of the Kid’s heists took him frequently away from home. Aoko is proud of her father, but their relationship may be a bit strained.
Aoko grew up with an extreme dislike of Kaitou Kid. Although the thief had a wide variety of fans, Aoko was the only one that the thief most certainly could not impress, and oftentimes Aoko would be the lone dissenter in Kid’s crowd of rabid fans, waving hate signs and yelling for him to go home. (Small wonder that she wasn’t attacked for this, but that’s another story.)
Aoko attends high school, where she presumably does well, able to answer a complex math equation even while chasing Kaito around with a mop. Aoko has been friends Kaito since they were both children and tends to treat him with great familiarity, just calling him by his first name. The nature of her relationship with him, at least on the surface, is frequently one of affectionate disgust, but Aoko does quite care for him. Something deeper may well be blossoming beneath the surface; however, she may not yet understand the full nature of it. She has no idea that Kaito and Kid are the same person, and at least for the moment, for Kaito’s sake, perhaps this is just as well.
Are you taking this character from a another RP? No.
Personality: Aoko is a bright, spirited girl, prone to quick emotion. She laughs quickly, she worries quickly, and she angers quickly, scarcely spending time in between. Emotion is rarely stored up; it comes out in a quick, lively burst, few holds barred. When Kaito flips up her skirt, she is after him immediately. Small things make her happy as well - little gestures, such as Kaito promising to show off his magic tricks at her birthday party. When she worries, however, she tends to store that up a little more, bottling it until it explodes in a sudden rush of energy.
Aoko has a strong temper - strong as it is sudden. Exploding abruptly, she is prone to saying and doing things she may not mean later, but that never seems to stop her from doing them in the first place. She is devoted to ideals of justice and righteousness and dislikes to see anyone committing wrongdoing, from anything as strong as Kid’s stealing to one actress deliberately making a fool out of another.
Aoko also carries a rather childlike outlook on the world. She tends to take it in with wide, bright eyes and an abject fascination, sometimes making her seem rather younger than her 17 years. She has the tendency to act like a child in other ways as well, pouting and clinging to her ideals with a determined stubbornness even when she should perhaps give them up. For example, even though Kid has never hurt anyone and has always returned what he has stolen, she continues to berate him as a liar. Perhaps, however, this is because he continues to indirectly steal her father and her family’s honor from her, night after night.
Lastly, one could not go without mentioning Aoko’s playful nature. She seems to enjoy banter with those around her, particularly with her friends and her father. She enjoys teasing Kaito in some ways just as much as he enjoys teasing her, deliberately wearing fish underwear that she knows will freak him out when he decides to flip her skirt, happily poking him in the cheek to tell him he’s cute when he blushes.

Powers/Abilities: Aoko has no powers or canon abilities. (Except for being able to pack a punch with a mop, but likely this is not an ability that would stand up in a true fight.) As such, she will be given an ability within the framework of the game. Aoko will find herself designated as a magical girl known as “White Dove.” Perhaps stemming from her own interest in magic tricks and her scorn of Kid, her attacks will mock magical clichés. They are as follows:
Sleight-of-Hand - appears to pull small, glowing coins out of nowhere. When flicked at an opponent, they explode in minor releases of energy. They would be enough to give a human being a serious burn at the site.
Doves From a Hat - calls forth a flock of 5-7 stylized, glowing birds which will attempt to divebomb the opponent. The doves are made more from force instead of energy; getting hit with one would be equivalent to a punch.
Smoke and Mirrors - a twofold attack. The smoke, used by itself, causes a thick screen. However, if the second part of the attack is used, the opponent can be pinpointed within the cloud, and the mirrors reveal some form of truth about them. For a creature such as one of the shadows, it would reveal their true form. For a human, however, it has the potential to reveal not their identity, but something deeper about them. (This would never be used against a human opponent without consent of the player.)
Fly - a magic wand appears, lengthens, and sprouts wings, which can be used to fly on rather like a broomstick.
Family Situation: Aoko lives with a somewhat gruff man - an approximation of her father. However, the man is in business and somewhat of a workaholic. He is not often home.
Job: Aoko will be a high school student and is the equivalent of a junior in the U.S.

It won’t work! Why won’t it go away??
None of the numbers I’ve tried on this phone work either . . . Mooooou, what is this?
Magic isn’t supposed to be real.
Third Person Sample:
Had he forgotten? Nakamori Aoko checked the time on her watch, twisting her wrist to catch sight of the minute hand in the faded light. Thirty minutes late, verging on thirty-five. She *had* told him 8:30, right?
No, she was positive of that. He was late.
Idiot. Even as she dug into her purse for her cell phone, her thoughts ran rampant. He was goofing off. He'd never meant to take her seriously in the first place; he was treating this as a joke. She'd barely seen him beyond school lately; he always seemed tired, a little distracted. She'd thought this would be a good chance for them both to get out, to relax, to get caught up with one another. Her father was working late these nights; the house was quiet, strangely large and dark. Lately she didn't like to stay in, listening to the ghost rattles of pipes in the walls. Kaito would have been a good distraction; his easy smile and reckless way infuriating, pulling her out of herself. With Kaito she didn't have time to be afraid.
But he wasn't there.
No messages on her cell phone, either. It was on, too; she really couldn't have missed it if he'd called.
Where was he? Drawing her limbs more tightly to herself, her eyes darted around the fringes of the streetlight she was under, at the darkness beyond. One last thought, quick and deadly: Maybe he simply didn't have time for her any more.
Somehow that frightened her more than anything else.
