Great comparison between the Everlivings and Dementors. I hadn't thought of that. I'm looking forward to Cole's POV. I feel certain that he does have some limited amount of affection for her, as much as a creature like him is capable of, but it's so obviously overwhelmed by the depravity of his character. And it's most certainly not enough to redeem him or restore his humanity.

I'm so glad you liked it!

Have you read Under The Never Sky? I know it's popular, but I'm finding it to be rather weak and hard to get into. Probably because it starts more sci-fi than fantasy.

I don't know. I think any connection he feels for her is a result of him sucking out her emotions. It isn't genuine. Ugh, I hate him so muuuuuuch.

I did like it though. I'm really excited about reading the next installment.

I haven't read that one. I've heard good things. I'm not a big sci-fi fan. I liked Across the Universe though, so maybe I'll give it a shot.

Oh gosh, this one sounds totally twisted and potentially heartbreaking and I just know if I start it the story will devastate me. Your summary is already tugging at my heartstrings!

It really would be devastating if it was a love triangle. But it's pretty clearly not going in that direction, no matter how much the other boy wants it to. The ending was heartrending, but it's really clearly not over. Not by a long shot. I mean, other than the fact that it's a trilogy... it's clear that she's got plans for these two humans.

Woops. I almost slipped and spoiled it. But I think I managed to skate the line!

Also, man. That cover is gorgeous. This is one of the things I do miss when I read on a black and white kindle -- the color and the artistry of the covers.

I totally get pulled to books in bookstores by their covers!

Me too. That's one of the prime reasons I bought The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. The cover is incomparable.
