I knew that actor Patrick McGoohan had died this week but, to my shame, I've never seen a single episode of the show in which he played his most well-known role, The Prisoner. However, I recently rediscovered that fact that he starred (alongside Karen Dotrice, who then went on to star in Mary Poppins) in one of my all time favorite childhood films ( Read more... )

Karen Dotrice was also on Upstairs, Downstairs for a few episodes--but I've never seen The Three Lives of Thomasina. I think there was a trailer for it on one of my tapes of another live-action Disney movie. Possibly The Parent Trap. Or The Gnome Mobile.

She was in The Gnome Mobile, so that makes sense. You'd totally love Thomasina, you should check it out. Classic early '60s Disney goodness.

Incidentally, I learned that Karen Dotrice is the daughter of Roy Dotrice, whose performances as Mozart's father in Amadeus and Anton Pamchenko in The Cutting Edge have given me pleasure for many years. :)
