Didn't love it, but I liked it a lot. At the beginning, with all the basement faux-angst, I was afraid it was going to be a punk Post High School Musical. The Broadway setting definitely undermined the mood. But it got better as it went along. I like Green Day a lot (the fact that they're so appealing to a middle-aged suburban mom is probably proof positive that they have in fact sold out), and overall I thought it worked pretty well. Still wish I'd managed to see it in Berkeley, though.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. First, I thought that it made the CD much easier to understand. No matter how many times people explained about St. Jimmy being an alter ego that killed himself, I really couldn't quite wrap my head around it. ;)
My one complaint was that I thought they really limited the show by sticking so closely to Billy Joe Armstrong's vocal range for the music; I mean, I really enjoy the original music, but BJA has, like, *my* vocal range, which is pretty pathetic. It seems like a waste to put a show on Broadway and not really make the most of the vocal talent. (Did you see BJA or Tony Vincent as St. Jimmy, btw? IMO, Tony Vincent was the best voice in the show, and I really loved his portrayal of St. Jimmy; it's super-annoying that *that's* the role BJA wants to take over!)

All that said, I'd still see it again! :)

The quote is from "Life's Been Good," which is actually by Joe Walsh, not Joe Jackson. Oops!
