Bad day in Cupertino

You've probably heard by now of the expected but untimely death of Steve Jobs. But if you don't live in northern California, you may not have heard about the gunman who shot ten people in Cupertino early this morning, killing three of them. This was the #1 topic of conversation among my Apple friends today until the other big news hit. They had an unnerving day, and it sounds like you did too.

It's all been pretty awful. A lot of confusion yesterday about whether my son's school was closed or open. Just got a robocall from the superintendent saying "there is no longer any reason for concern." If only I believed that! I don't even like "Supernatural" all that much, but this was really like a plot point from that show.

Such a sad thing - shootings in the USA rarely make our news; they are too common.

I know exactly what you mean. This was the kind of thing I wouldn't have paid much attention to, either, if it hadn't happened right in my neighborhood.
