Rebecca Mason's first term at the famous Trebizon School does not go well. After getting off to a bad start with one of the prefects, she chums up with the years most spiteful girl and so gets off on the wrong foot with Sue and Tish - two girls who she would like to chum up with. But due to the School Magazine editors bid for glory, Rebecca's talents as a writer are revealed and Tish and Sue, who have fought for their rights to have the magazine written by the pupils, become close friends with her.
