Only one more and then I'm halfway through - so on average I've probably been reading about 2 a week up 'til now. The list is
here.
Although Jean Estoril's books were mainly written for younger readers, and several in particular for ballet-mad younger readers, they are still eminently readable. It may be just me, but I find that she paints her characters well, everything doesn't go as it should, and I feel with this book, and the prequel, The Ballet Family, we have an extra help into the world of the Garland's with Joan, the Lancastrian cousin who in the first book is being introduced to the Garland's as much as we are. Joan's finding a place, Anne's acceptance of Lisa's decision not to pursue ballet, Pelagia's engagement and Delphine's accident which could have been so devastating, and her possible reformation, are all presented with a style that make you feel that you are really there.
Another Angela Brazil next, as I've forgotten to forward the next couple of CS transcripts to work...
