This is a typical of it's era school story, made slightly more interesting as the school is in Italy. The friendship between Irene & Lorna is believable although it was fairly obvious from early on that there would be some link between Lorna's Fathers problems and Irene's family. But a nice easy read, with some interesting travelogue type information.
