New Book Challenge 2008 - 57/60 - Review - A Patriotic Schoolgirl

At this rate I'll have to revise the total upwards again...

This is one of Angela Brazil's school stories which is set during WWI, and tells the story of Majorie & Dona Anderson's first year at a big Boarding School. The book is engaging, especially with the background of the local village and it's Red Cross Hospital, as well as young Eric, an ill boy who lives nearby. The spy-plotline was interesting, but I did pick up on who was the real spy quite quickly, and I must say the thing that probably jarred most with me was the insistence that the girls sleep with their windows open, even in the snow!
