Anyone play Monopoly? I hear it is catching up with the times. The fake money is being replaced with debit cards, right? I stopped playing that game, but in my opinion, the best part always was counting your stack at the end ( Read more... )

Argh. I save my pennies until they're worth something.
It SEEMS to me like the monetary system somehow can't work without pennies, but I don't know all the facts. A simple and obvious solution would be finding a cheaper material to make pennies.

i heard that because of how much change gets thrown away, there's millions of dollars worth of change in our landfills or wherever. most of that is pennies. so each year with the cost of making pennies going up, they're also being lost, not in circulation with our economy. it's pretty much throwing money away. at least that's what i was told but that was like years ago.

Instead of a regular job, I'll go digging in landfills. Worse yet, I could be the penny whore and yell at people for trashing their change. But really, that's a good point you brought up. I wonder how it would work, because I can't really comprehend the idea of no pennies at this point.
