The Last Party

Aug 01, 2006 11:37

You never know when the universe is going to end. Every morning I wake up, and am blown away to see that the earth hasn't been hit by a giant comet. "It's still here?" I question, as is my tendency. "My house hasn't disappeared? And the sun- it has risen!" Now, don't go getting all Hallelujah about this. There's a problem and one must decide what ( Read more... )

As Joplin said, "Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose." (don't know if she really wrote that, but she did sing it nicely) As far as living every day as if it is your last, well that is a good idea, as long as you don't think the whole world evolves around you. Which, sadly is what most pagans, and liberals, and whiny baby-boomers, and the like think. The Tibetans have it right--love the whole world and everything in it, always. Then it won't matter if you die today, tomorrow, or next year. Every moment, every second is a beautiful thing, and a gift at that. I am owed nothing for free, except the right to love. My rights as an American were paid for by my ancestors, my rights as a human were paid for by Jesus, and my rights as an artist were paid for by countless other artists. It is the DEMAND of others for things THEY feel THEY deserve that obligates the rest of us with a heavier burden--the current environment of the healthcare system is directly related to the unions forcing employers to provide FREE ( ... )

The Tibetans do have that right. I love the world, the truth of the whole. "Right to love"... that narrows things down a bit and it makes sense. It feels like that always has been THE right- to love. I think self-love is at the base of most human actions.

I just think basic needs should be free for everyone. It's a pipe dream.

Apathy breeds like mosquitos here, which is sad. And like you said- what's breeding are the causes we support because we feel we deserve those things. That's clarifying. You're saying love isn't something you have to earn. One must have a lot of strength to appreciate. I smile a lot! :) I hope you smile every day.

well you know, that's all well in good. every day is great. but this party-planning sounds like a good idea....hmm.
are you familiar with the andrew bird song 'tables and chairs' where he says
"i know we're going to meet some day
in the crumbled financial institutions of this land
there will be tables and chairs
there'll be pony rides and dancing bears
there'll even be a band
cause listen, after the fall there will be no more countries
no currencies at all, we're gonna live on our wits
we're gonna throw away survival kits,
trade butterfly-knives for adderal
and that's not all
woah-ohh, there will be snacks there will
there will be snacks, there will be snacks." <3
you'll be invited to my party, when i can afford one.

Glad you like it. Start your own for sure, man! ;) If there's any one thing humanity CAN'T get wrong, it's gotta be partying. I do doubt that though, as there are party-poopers. Start the Last Pow-wow now, and let it go, spread itself out. When we start living in spaceships, we can have parties on other planets and stuff. It'll be cool.
