Hee, hee! not the worst "mistake" you could have made! It is very good to know that the puppy is fine! and really, congratulations on even paying close enough attention to see it! Some pet owners are remarkably oblivious.

I had a woman on the phone once who said she was sure her dog had a tick on his belly, but she couldn't get it off. Then, while we were talking and she was looking at the dog, she sort of panicked and said, "my god, he has them in lines down his belly! where did he get all these ticks? They almost look like nipples, but they can't be nipples because he is a boy!."

I could only say it in my mind... "Lady... does your husband have nipples?!"
