A Rent Mood - Will Pearce and Staff

May 09, 2005 09:01

Rent was blasting within and without of William Pearce's office, and if the residents and staff didn't know what that meant, the old-timers let them know.

Dr. Pearce wasn't to be disturbed unless there was an emergency. Tell the younger parents that Rent had a mature rating and while Pearce would keep it down for their sensitivity, he would not ( Read more... )

The “Rent” mood was not unexpected, even though Wilson had no idea what exactly might have triggered it, he did know that the quiet natured Pearce had taken a hell of a lot of shit recently and even if the Head of Peds was renowned for his quiet strength, chances were the man was…stressed.

The Head of Oncology had brought in a couple changes of clothes today, just in case Chase’s grandparents made an appearance and a much neater shirt and tie combination hung in his office. A change of clothes wasn’t the only thing Wilson had brought. He’d also brought what he liked to term ‘Pearce Pixie Dust’.

Now, he just needed a couple of accomplices!

Well, Will could honestly say he never saw this one coming.

Especially when this 'one' was several platters of red cherry jello jigglers being left for him at the nurse's station, and an entire department of giggling.

He put down his pile of finished casefiles, smiled a little, and plucked up a platter to carry off to his office. To everyone else, he turned and said, "Well, what are you waiting for? Dig in. Can't eat this all by myself."

There were some whoops as the children (and adults) descended on the jello.

Will kept on smiling, and glanced around for Wilson. Because only Wilson would do something THIS insane.

In a lab coat which was now dotted with red and green jello stains, Wilson leaned against the wall next to the elevators, watching the controled chaos of happy children.

Dark eyes meet Will's overtop the heads of the children a smile, which reached all the way up to his eyes was cast in the other man's direction along with a little shrug.

Sometimes, you just needed jello.

Will's smile back was crooked, but warm. He gave Wilson a little salute with his two index fingers, before turning on his heel and heading back towards his office. He'd ...put the headphones on.

Maybe switch it out to 'Moulin Rouge'.
