The teenage'angst land.

[The fall following this and then more immediately following this.]Jude's arrival was already called in, so there's no trouble for him to get into the penthouse. No one will truly seem to know where Grace is though. For as small as the penthouse really is, she's good at slipping around unseen when she really wants to ( Read more... )

He knows where to look for her. He's always known where to look. He walks to her father's office, and pushes the door in, without knocking. Jude looks at her, curled up in the chair and wants to run to her; wants to comfort and kiss her. But he doesn't.

"Gracie...I...," he rubs at his hair. "Gracie...I'm sorry. I just...I love you, and I'm sorry."

There. He said it.

It helps that Jude knows her so well. His entrance leaves her blinking, arm tightening around her legs a little more. She hadn't known he'd even wanted to see her, let alone was here. Her head sinks a little lower behind her knees, so only from her nose up is showing and she's hiding how a couple tears make a break for it down her cheek.

"You left...I didn't know about Jeanette...about what she said...and then you were just gone..." Not in school, not around anywhere she might have found him. She wasn't around much either, but she'd noticed his disappearance. And all the guys could talk about in school was what a dark bruise Grace had left her ex-friend with.

He walks over to her and sits down, next to her, on the floor, hand wrapping around her ankle. Just to touch her.

"I needed some time to think..." he reaches for her. "C'mere?"

Her eyes track his movements, blinking fast enough to tell him without him having to see that she's losing the fight against her tears with him right here in front of her.

"I'm sorry..." She slips from the chair, dropping carefully into his lap and curling up against his chest. The drop is careful because she's not stupid about boy parts and she's kicked Bryant enough times when they were playing sports to know just how sensitive guys can be. Bryant...may never have children but whose to say that's a bad thing...
