The shading on the mask is AWESOME. The shading on the gem is AWESOME (and if you could post your gem technique, I'd be eternally grateful). Overall, he's just great and I can't see any flaws with the checker pattern. (I'm assuming you thin your paint?)

And as someone who has played 40K and Space Hulk since the late 80's, I am compelled to show you the following:

That is a beautiful paint job and an great choice of weapons for the fig. And I love the gems on that harlequin. Wow.
