This Is My Boom-Stick

The BOYI CH1181B2 riot-pump shotgun is hilariously worthless.

It's a shame, because once you strip off all the "upgrades" (a laser pointer, a feeble blue-lens flashlight, and a smeared transparent object with a bulls-eye painted on it that I suspect is intended as a sight)it looks like a respectable general-purpose shotgun, the type of anonymous NPC weapon that could be of military or civilian origin. Where it fails, utterly, to be of any use as an actual implement of shooting is the loading system, which is an uncovered hole at the breech of the gun and a cavernous, hollow chamber within. Any bb's dropped into this magazine rattle about fruitlessly, perhaps occasionally coming into contact with the piston. The gun simply will not fire from any position other than perfectly level. Flipped upside down, the bb's fall merrily out of the gun. Don't waste your time on this one.

Another super-cheap spring shotgun, this little sawed-off is actually a pleasant surprise.

It's super-crude and completely plastic, but once all the peripherals (like the ludicrous tactical rail) are removed it's pretty cute. I wrapped the pistol grip and triggers in gaffer's tape and shaved off the decals, and it definitely has a lot of potential as a "character weapon" straight outta Mad Max. Its very simple design uses a breech-loading system that allows you to load one bb per barrel. While this may seem like a drawback, there's something to be said for an airsoft shotgun that you can reload while running. It's also nice to be able to find some airsoft weapons that wouldn't look out of place in the hands of the Average Joe.
