Sandy found a baby cardinal that had fallen a short distance out of its nest, just outside our front porch. Luckily, she found it about five minutes before I got home. You are so lucky you could reach the nest. A baby robin fell out of its nest in front of my place and I could not get it backup in the tree (too high up). The parents found it, but I would guess since it couldn't fly the numerous feral cats in the area discovered him.
