Even Better! Oh, Wait, I Meant "Worse".

...Palin's a book-banning, earmark-addicted Alaskan secessionist who wants Christian Creationism given equal time alongside evolution in public schools.  (No doubt she wants all other religious creation myths given equal time, too.  The CFSM can really get behind this one.)

Worse than Dan Quayle?

Book banning ... ok, so she's like a lot of the GOP who'd want to ban anything that doesn't fit their mindset. Did she succeed? I note that Tipper Gore wanted to ban (edit: certain kinds of) music. And her husband was still elected VP.

Earmarks: Did she lobby for those? Did she refuse any of them? I only see a list of earmarks that get set by someone ... probably Congress.

Secession: She was a member of a political party that wants Secession. Lieberman used to be a Democrat too. I wouldn't even begin to believe that holds with any of the Democrats platform anymore. So folks can change.

Creationism: Yeah, I saw that, Like I said. She fits right in with the GOP.

I'm not knocking your characterization of her mind you, she is a piece of work, one that I hope a lot of Americans will not agree with, but I'll tell you, there's a lot that do. That is scary enough.

I wouldn't vote for Tipper, either. Luckily, she was never in a position to become VP.

With the Earmarks, see http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/cvn_palin_earmarks for a broader account of her activities rooting around in the pork barrel.

Dumb question:

Is your point "why would anyone vote for her?" or "gaaaah!" or something else entirely?

If the former, then aside from Alaskan seccessionist, my impression is that Republicans in (say) Kansas would identify with her as one of their kind. If the middle, well, I want to say that you hit that point a long time ago looking at McCain, and so who cares about the second-in-command.

If the latter, then I *completely* missed your point, for which I apologize, and I would be grateful if you could elaborate. :)

I think you encapsulate my point well when you say, and here I quote, "gaaaah!"

I get why people would vote for her: they're missing critical intellectual connections between specific causes and effects. It's the same rocket fuel McCain hopes to burn.

To me, the choice of VP is valid because if elected, McCain stands a statistically real chance of dying while in office.

The last few years, I've been fairly successful at cultivating a "okay, laught then" response when faced with a situation of "I don't know whether I should scream, cry, or laugh".

So reading this...

I get why people would vote for her: they're missing critical intellectual connections between specific causes and effects. It's the same rocket fuel McCain hopes to burn.

...made me picture a political cartoon of you, chained to a launch pad at Kennedy Space Center, as part of the brackets supporting a rocket's tail fins, with McCain waving a cowboy hat from the top of the rocket, the PA blaring "T MINUS 9... 8... 7...", and you rolling your eyes and saying "Yeah, GREAT...".

Much better, thank you for asking. Still rather tender, but I'm not limping around going "Yeesh... aieee... fffttssss..." anymore.

I think this has inspired me to seek employment elsewhere, though. More on that existential crisis later!
