That vid was, indeed, epic. Passed it on to the other GhettoCubers.
Grats on climbing out of the sarlacc pit of life, standing on your two feet and getting back on track with all the stuff you want to do. Phase 1, complete!
Sounds like you're overdue for a change of position at ML/Symantec. Even a step over (as opposed to up) would provide some novelty for a while, and make you even more versatile.
Let me know if you want help with travel ideas/plans. Doooooo it!
I just got a Lenovo X-series laptop (waiting on delivery for when I get off-ice). Someone here works for IBM let me use their employee discount and I saved nearly $700. If you're interested, I can ask if he wouldn't mind passing that on.
Also: glad to hear things are improving for you, even if it's a little dull. Good luck!

Do they still use that crappy PeopleSoft app to request days off and such from their HR website? GOD, I hated that.
Other than that, the benefits were pretty decent when I was there. Sounds like a good deal.

Benefits are decent, Stock discount, 5% matche to RRSP and probably a bunch of stuff I'm completely unaware of...

The stock options weren't worth it for me. Right before my layoff, my options were actually MORE expensive than what the stock was trading for.
The 401(k) and vacation time, on the other hand, weren't so bad.
Get me drunk at a con (other than AC) sometime and I'll be happy to tell you all sorts of stories from when I was on their SMS 8160 team.
