I'm possibly going to get another promotion this month. Our seniour engineer is leaving, after making a complete arse of himself during the last year. He's been quietly told to leave his position. In fact, he is the senior engineer that I was having so much trouble with some months ago

Do you think that other person will be able to work without pressures? Maybe that person won´t be able to use your advice after all if she must accept those conditions you don´t like....anyway you´re right, don´t accept a job you´re not comfrtable with, it just lead to troubles

My personality is not quite suited for the job. It's a management type of job, which requires a lot of careful people management, rather than engineering work. I think that I could become a good people management person, given time and experience, but I do not think that I currently have the skills.

The other person is better at people management, although nowhere near as good as me in engineering skills. At the same time, they're massively indebted to me, because of variuos things that I've done to help them. So, it's a perfect situation.
